The Factory Strider is the Automatons’ biggest unit: a quadruped colossus that spits lead from its cannons and deploys Devastators from its belly. It’s intimidating, but like everything in Helldivers 2 it has clear weak spots. Here’s how to bring it down cleanly.
Understanding the Factory Strider
- Weak spot #1: the exposed belly (its underside) — also where it drops Devastators.
- Weak spot #2: the eyes on its head — anti-tank and the Autocannon do damage there.
- The top and flanks are heavily armored: don’t bother shooting them.
- Its two chin cannons pour out continuous fire that pins your team.
Method 1 — Eagle 500kg underneath (simplest)
The go-to method, no aiming required:
- Position so it walks over your strike target.
- Drop an Eagle 500kg directly under its belly.
- The blast hits the exposed underside → instant kill.
Short cooldown, no complex timing. If you only have one stratagem for it, this is the one.
Method 2 — Anti-tank to the face (fastest at range)
With a heavy support weapon:
- Recoilless Rifle or Quasar Cannon into the head eyes → a few shots and it collapses.
- Keep your distance: its cannons punish you up close.
Method 3 — AC-8 Autocannon (no stratagem wasted)
The Autocannon, centerpiece of our anti-bot build, handles the Strider too:
- Aim for the head eyes (several shots) or the belly when exposed.
- Slower than the 500kg, but you save a stratagem for the rest.
Always take out the cannons first
Before finishing it, destroy its two chin cannons: they lay down fire that pins the whole team. Once it’s silenced, you can take your time aiming for the belly or face under no pressure.
As a team
- One player holds its attention and breaks the cannons.
- Another drops the 500kg underneath or chains anti-tank into the face.
- Stay spread out: its fire and the Devastators it drops hurt in a tight group.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Shooting the armored top/flanks → 0 useful damage.
- Misplaced 500kg (beside it, not under) → it tanks it and keeps going.
- Ignoring the cannons → your team stays pinned and melts under fire.
- Engaging up close → you get shredded; stay at medium range.
Conclusion
Factory Strider = 500kg under the belly or anti-tank/Autocannon into the eyes, after killing its cannons. Do that and the colossus drops in seconds. For the full bot-front loadout, see our anti-bot build and our how to kill Hulks guide.
Frequently asked questions
What's a Factory Strider's weak spot?
Its exposed belly (the underside, where it deploys Devastators) and the eyes on its head. The top and flanks are heavily armored.
Is the Eagle 500kg enough?
Yes: dropped directly underneath it, a 500kg destroys it in one go. It's the simplest, most reliable method.
Does the AC-8 Autocannon work?
Yes, aiming for the head eyes (several shots) or the belly. Slower than the 500kg but it saves a stratagem.
Should I destroy its cannons?
Strongly recommended: its two chin cannons lay down suppressing fire that pins your team. Killing them first makes the rest far safer.
